The Showbiz Players have been around for 18 years. We started as a church variety show and have now become one of the top community theatre groups in the city of Cincinnati. We have prided ourselves in being a theatre group who does shows that are either Cincinnati premieres or shows that aren't produced here very often. We have done many MTI shows including - Into the Woods, My Favorite Year, Children of Eden, Lucky Stiff, the Baker's Wife, the Civil War and of course - Jekyll & Hyde.
Our favorite thing about performing is when you hear the audience say "wow" under their breath With "Jekyll & Hyde" there were luckily many "wow's". There were also a few screams as Jekyll turned into Hyde right before our audience's eyes. As he crawled downstage toward the audience, we could see the ladies in the first 3 rows grabbing their husband's arms. It was wonderful! Our orchestra was phenomenal and really enhanced our wonderful singers. One critic said it was the best orchestra he had ever heard in community theatre. We were asked to perform something from the show at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards. Tom Cartwright sang "The Is The Moment" with more intensity than I've ever heard him sing it. The audience was on their feet before he reached the last note! It was a wonderful evening and one we will remember for the rest of our lives!
