Racine Theatre Guild

The Racine Theatre Guild has been entertaining and educating residents of southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois for 68 years. A nonprofit community theatre, the RTG annually produces eight main-stage plays--comedies, dramas and musicals--thanks in large part to the services of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. In late autumn an outreach play with weekday performances is given primarily for elementary schools, and one for middle schools (with workshops) is scheduled each spring. Teacher study guides are provided for all outreach plays, and teams of cast members visit many of the participating schools to give preparatory presentations.

Racine Children’s Theatre (founded in 1933 and merged with RTG in 1999) offers four children's plays throughout the school year. Children’s acting classes are held four afternoons per week for the better part of the year. SPArK, a traveling troupe of middle-school actors, tours an original, socially-relevant piece to area elementary schools each May.

Summer acting camps are taught by Milwaukee Rep. instructors at the Theatre Guild facility. In conjunction with Harbor Fest, RTG hosts Jean’s Jazz Series in the winter and spring months. In 2005 a series of comedy nights was launched. A children's theatre festival is scheduled in July 2006.
